Byron bay and Lennox heads

So I hadn't been able to book a place to stay in byron bay. I was just winging it.Haha. Either way I have a hammock and a sleeping bag worst case scenario. I got off the bus and there were a couple shuttles to different hostels. I asked one of the guys if he had any rooms available and he said yes. Way easier than I had expected!! He said the place was like 15 mins away. I hopped in the shuttle with like 5 other people and of headed back the way we came. Lol. It turned out the hostel was in some place called lennox heads. It was actually a really nice place!! All the rooms had their own kitchens, there was a pool and a area to just relax with a hammock and some music. I took the bus back to byron bay and walked around for a bit. Its pretty much a hippie town with lots of shops and places to eat. I went down to the beach and hung out there for a bot and then grabbed the shuttle back to the hostel. Walked around in lennox heads for a bit and relaxed at the hostel for the night. In the morning I decided to go surfing. The hostel rented surf boards for 5 bucks for 2 hours. I got to the beach and realized it was nothing like hawaii. Instead of being pretty shallow for a while it got deep really quick and close to the beach. I was all by myself so I didn't want to swim out really far in case something happened to me so I stayed where I could still touch. I unsuccessfully tried to surf for about an hour. I was too close to the shore to actually stand up. I decided to get out when a group of 12 year olds seriously showed me up. :( I went back to the hostel to grab my stuff so I could catch the bus into byron bay and from there a bus up to surfers paradise.
